Designing the Datapao office was a particularly inspiring task for us, as we were able to build on a highly distinctive brand guideline. Alongside its two key themes — chili and astronaut-inspired motifs — the vibrant color palette played a defining role in the concept, with bold use of purple and vivid red tones.
A unique feature of the office layout is its organization around a central core, allowing the space to be navigated in a continuous loop. The spiral staircase leading to the upper level is conceived as a “beam of light from a flying saucer,” guiding visitors as they transition to a higher level.
The central element on the upper level is a communal space, designed to host team-building activities as well as moments of relaxation. The chili logo — a key element of the brand identity — plays a prominent role on the wall.
Although the concept was ultimately not realized in this form — as the organization leased space in a different office building — the ideas and visual language developed during the design process continue to serve as an inspiring reference for us.
